Subject: OSDA Heritage Award Winner 2017

Hi Neighbor!

Just a quick note to tell you what an honor it was to represent you all in receiving the Historical Society’s Heritage Award this year.  This is obviously a special year for us as we celebrate 200 years of the Old Stone Dock’s service to the community.

There were about 125 folks at the dinner that honored us and the Garden Club for our contributions to the preservation, beautification, and betterment of the town.  We displayed some of the art and poetry of the high school students’ recognition of the Bicentennial that will be displayed at the Art Center in the months ahead.

We received many kind words and several citations to mark the occasion:

  • the Award itself presented by Troy Clarkson on behalf of Historical Society’s President Tamsen George
  • a citation delivered by Town Manager Suso on behalf of the Selectmen
  • a proclamation from the US House of Representatives from Congressman Keating
  • a certificate from the Massachusetts House of Representatives from Mr. Vieira
  • a citation from the Massachusetts Senate delivered by Senator Vinny deMacedo
  • and a picture on the front page of the Enterprise of Senator deMacedo’s presentation!

It was a delightful evening and I thank all those who were able to attend that night and the many of you who sent along your congratulations for our achievements.

It was also an appropriate time to recognize that our own Constable Jim Crossen is the only member who was present at the founding of the Association 55 years ago, and has NEVER missed a meeting!!    Happy 92nd Birthday, Jim, and thanks for your untiring leadership!
