On Friday evening, October 6, 2017 The Falmouth Art Center at 137 Gifford Street, Falmouth held their opening reception from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. for their show – Reflecting on our Past: The Old Stone Dock Bicentennial. Artwork and Prose were by Falmouth High School Students. It was a full house and enjoyed by all who attended.

What a terrific tribute this was to recognize the spirit and talent of the Falmouth students. The students invested a lot of time and talent to help us celebrate the Bicentennial year of the Old Stone Dock.   The Old Stone Dock has played a central role in the life of the town for 200 years, yet few are aware of the lifeline it was for commerce to ports along the East Coast before it became the recreational asset is today.

Many thanks to their teachers for getting behind the initiative and inspiring their students to appreciate history and find creative ways to express it.  Thanks to Suzy Bergman and the Art Center for making time in the main gallery to showcase the students’ achievements and encourage their participation in the arts.

All of us in the Old Stone Dock Association applaud your partnership and thank you for all you have done to recognize this impressive historic milestone. The show will run from September 20, 2017 to October 16, 2017.
