On Saturday, 09/23/17 at 3:00 p.m. OSDA President Kevin Doyle provided a presentation on the Old Stone Dock – History, Heroes and Hurricanes to a full house at the Falmouth Museum on the Green.  Typically there is an entry fee but it was waived on Saturday as the Museum was participating in Smithsonian Magazine Museum Day and was offering free entry to their buildings and generously offered free membership to this talk as well.

As guests arrived they were greeted by Board Member, Terry Saunders. She manned a table where Old Stone Dock note cards, caps and bags were available for sale.  There was also a poster board showing many of the activities the OSDA participated in during the past year as well as a handout listing the activities.  Jane Baker, Art Teacher at Falmouth High School loaned art work prepared by her students earlier in the year of the dock and other points of interest in Falmouth.  Board Member, Rebecca Bevilacqua discussed membership opportunities with guests as well.

Members who were in attendance and who contributed to the presentation were Bill Swift, Joel Peterson, Col Jim Tow and Karen Rinaldo.

The hosts, Falmouth Museum on the Green offered refreshments for all guests. Kevin had a nice mix of history and current events.  There were old and new photos, postcards, art work and documents.  The postcard collection of Robert C. Hunt is available on line via the Falmouth Public Library.  Kevin gave special thanks to Past President, Jim Fox’s daughter Jessica Fox who put the presentation together on PowerPoint.

A wonderful time was had by all. Everyone walked away knowing more about our neighborhood, the monuments and ‘The Old Stone Dock’ as it started out, changed and as it is today.  Thank you Kevin for sharing your enthusiasm for the Old Stone Dock and its 200th Anniversary 1817 – 2017.
